What still has to happen before Mableton's redevelopment referendum result is final
"No" leads by 1,137 votes in the unofficial count. Military and overseas ballots can arrive through Friday, and Cobb plans to certify results Monday, Nov. 9.

"No" leads Mableton's "Redevelopment Powers Law" referendum by 1,137 votes, according to unofficial results posted by the Georgia Secretary of State. That result, like every Nov. 3 result in Cobb County, is not final yet. Here is what still has to happen.
Where the count stands
The latest numbers we could read are on the Secretary of State's Cobb results page, "as of November 3, 2026, 11:03 PM ET." The page labels them unofficial and says counts can still change.
- "Redevelopment Powers Law" Referendum - Mableton: No 14,933 (52.0%), Yes 13,796 (48.0%), out of 28,729 votes.
- Cobb County SPLOST (countywide): Yes 204,842 (62.0%), No 125,788 (38.0%).
The page does not show how complete the count is. Its precinct-reporting lines show zero in every category (fully reported, partially reported and not reported), including for the 14 precincts listed for the Mableton referendum.
What comes next
Friday, Nov. 6: This is the last day for military and overseas ballots to arrive. Under state rules, eligible ballots postmarked by Election Day count if they arrive within three business days after it.
Provisional ballots: Two state websites give different deadlines. Georgia.gov's 2026 election page says a provisional vote counts once the voter resolves the issue with the county "by the end of the next day." The Secretary of State's voting guide says a provisional ballot counts if eligibility can be determined "within three days after Election Day." The Secretary of State's page carries no date.
Monday, Nov. 9, 3 p.m.: Cobb County plans to certify results at a meeting of the Board of Elections and Registration. The county says the meeting will stream on the CobbTV YouTube channel.
What we don't know
None of the county pages we read says how many provisional or military and overseas ballots Cobb still has to count, for Mableton or for the county as a whole. We also could not find a source saying whether Cobb's Nov. 9 certification is the final step for the Mableton referendum. We will update this story when Cobb posts new totals or certifies.
