Privacy policy
Hello Mableton is a local news site for Mableton, Georgia. You can read the whole site without an account, and we run no ad trackers or analytics scripts.
What we collect
- If you create an account: your display name and email address, plus a scrambled version of your password if you use one. We can't read your password.
- If you log in with Google: your name, email address and Google's account number for you. If you log in with Facebook: your name and Facebook's account number for you. We use your name to suggest a display name of your first name and last initial. We never post to your accounts or see your friends or contacts.
- What you do here: your comments, votes and reports. Comments and your display name are public.
- If you submit an event or an advertising inquiry: what you put on the form. The contact details aren't published.
- Security records: a scrambled version of your internet address, kept for up to two days to stop abuse.
How we use it
To run your account, show your comments, send account emails you need (like confirmation and password reset), review submissions, and stop abuse. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who else handles it
Our web host stores the site's data. Resend delivers account emails. Google and Facebook handle their own login screens. Text in flagged comments and event submissions is sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, for review. We'd share information if the law required it.
Cookies
We use one cookie to keep you logged in, and a short-lived one to protect Google and Facebook logins. No tracking cookies.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account yourself at any time on your account page, which erases your account, comments and votes right away. If you can't get in, including if you logged in with Facebook or Google and no longer have that account, email privacy@hellomableton.com from the address on the account. To remove our access from your Facebook or Google account, use that service's settings for connected apps.
Children
Accounts are for people 13 and older. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we will delete it.
